Even if it wasn't in full bloom this mighty magnolia provided endless days of childhood play as the Stewart children sunned themselves, made outdoor forts, and climbed on its limbs. It was not just the abode of birds and squirrels, it was also the place where childhood imaginations stirred...a safe place to explore the world somewhere above the ground.
