In east Texas water "tanks" abound and most boys can't resist an old dock out over the water and an idle boat. Endless hours of creativity, dangling bare feet off the dock, hunting for turtles, snakes and whatever. "Tumping" is important to avoid as they learn how to get in and get out of the skiff, but maybe the most important thing to remember is to tie the boat up at the end of the day. The boys are gone now, the boat and the water are still, waiting for the next crew.
